Christine Kendall

Christine Kendall is a fiction writer living in Philadelphia. Her short stories have appeared in numerous publications including Wigleaf, Kweli Journal, and The Summerset Review. She has studied at Bread Loaf and the Southampton Writers’ Conference. Christine also writes for children. Her critically acclaimed debut novel, Riding Chance (Scholastic 2016), was nominated for a NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Literary Work for Youth/Teens. Her sophomore novel, The True Definition of Neva Beane, was also published by Scholastic in the fall of 2020.

Christine is an active member of the literary community having served as a juror for the New York City Book Awards from 2019 to 2022. She also co-hosted and curated the award winning reading series Creative at The Cannery in Philadelphia from 2018 to 2021. Christine currently serves on the board of A Book a Day, a nonprofit that engages the arts to expand literacy.
